Hannah Montana World Domination

It does seem to me that every time I go back to see my mother and my little sister that Hannah Montana is going to take over the world and become world leader, my sister almost always has one of her shows running non stop on the television and if its not that then she has her music blasting out over the airwaves, and entering her bedroom is a scary prospect due to the amount of Hannah Montana memorabilia she has plastered everywhere. To be fair though Miley Cyrus has done very well for herself considering she is only 18 and has spent the last 3-4 years filming and starring in her own TV show based on the fictional character of Hannah Montana. Miley wasn’t even meant for the lead role but ended up getting it anyway. Nobody could of predicted the rise to super stardom it would bring as millions of little girls across the county dreamed of being her and this would only lead to bigger and brighter things. After playing Hannah Montana for just two years movie producers made a movie starring Miley as the lead role and this brought in even more revenue for the young star, not only that but several Hannah Montana games were made and gave her access to a whole different kind of fan base. More recently she has left Hannah Montana behind a little bit and forged her own singing career as Miley Cyrus and although not a global star for that yet I’m sure its just a matter of time. Her songs as Miley Cyrus are a little raunchy but I suspect this is her rebelling slightly and will probably just lead her to a new male fan base and open up lots of other avenues for her and her management to explore. I just try and ignore all Hannah Montana related items when at my mothers house and just end up playing on the PC playing shooting games online.

A History Lesson About The Record Player

A gramophone cartridge with stylus for use on ...

These days we’ve got digital video disks , compact disks, MP3s, and of course the internet for all of our music needs. But none of them would have been possible without the advent of the record player, one of the more significant components of technology of all time. It was so cutting edge that after its invention in 1877, it took almost 100 years for it to be replaced by new technologies. And even now, record players have a vintage musical feel that ensures they are still extremely popular with fans of music everywhere. Nowadays, anytime someone thinks of a record player, it’s often the Technics or the Crosley Record Player. But more than a hundred years ago, the name that mattered most was Thomas Edison.

In 1877, Edison developed what he referred to as the phonograph. Edison’s initial records had been made of tinfoil. These records had a spiral groove that went up and down the surface area. A hand-cranked appliance with a pin, or stylus, was utilized to read the grooves of the record, vibrating based on the feel. This became eventually referred to as the hill-and-dale method. The vibrations ran up the stylus, through a metal tube, all the way to a large speaker. These early speakers made the vibrations into more audible sound.

At the time Edison completed his creation, he was much more interested in its numerous scientific purposes as opposed to what it could do with music. This left further enhancements to other inventors.

10 years later, Emile Berliner made the first disk record, and patented it in 1896. Berliner’s design took its origin from Edison’s, but instead of using the traditional hill-and-dale method, which had the grooves go up and down, his method, named the varying lateral direction method, featured textures on the edges of the grooves. The VLD caught on very quickly, and soon Edison’s original hill-and-dale method was no longer in use.

It was not long before mass production of records became possible when Emile Berliner invented the matrix record. This master copy enabled duplicate records to be manufactured indefinitely. At this time, record players were still hand-cranked. But with the late 19th century came the nationwide use of electricity. Then soon after the electric-powered record player was unveiled. Contrary to the hand-turned players that would range in speed based on the strength of the person, electronic record players provided consistent speed. This resulted in no variation in the tempo of the music.

Eventually, record players got so well liked that whole households gathered around them in order to enjoy quality entertainment. Early versions of the previous-song and skip-song functions of today’s waterproof Mp3 players were introduced during this time period. To be able to choose which tune was to play, a person placed the stylus in one of the blank grooves in between the textured ones. And for many years, the record player won the hearts of music fans.

With the seventies came cassette-tape decks and 8-tracks, and soon thereafter, records and record players seemed to be phasing out. However, when DJs became all the rage in dance clubs and discos, the turntable remained strong.

No matter what technology throws at us, music fans will always appreciate the record player!

False and Frivolous: Why The Fast and the Furious Series has Outstayed its Welcome

People love cars, this was thinking behind Rob Cohen’s (no not one of THE Cohen brothers you’ll be surprised to hear) 2001 hit, The Fast and the Furious. Jumping on the back of the modified-car subculture that was all the rage at the time  the film, starring yank-pretty boy Paul Walker and monosyllabic oaf Vin Diesel , played on the public’s fascination with family cars boasting 4 litre engines and ironing boards for spoilers.

Sure the film wasn’t a masterpiece, but the actors worked, playing a convincing community of petrol heads who were initially wary but ultimately welcoming to the undercover cop (Walker) infiltrating their street races and social gatherings to build intel about the scene. The film worked because it had a clear focus and was honest, it was all about the cars and it didn’t pretend to be anything it wasn’t.

Since then there have been three sequels of varying quality. The second film, ingeniously titled 2 Fast 2 Furious retained the fast cars and faster women (in case the title wasn’t enough of a giveaway), but laid on a translucent plot about the underground drugs trade in Miami. The flimsy progression was clearly only there to facilitate the presence of the brightly coloured cars but the second instalment certainly worked as a high-octane action film.

The Third Instalment, which was little more than a passing reference to the franchise, having jettisoned stalwarts Walker and Vin Diesel took place in Japan. Despite weak ties to its younger brothers it was a purer representation of the modified car culture, taking it back to high-school kids and deserted parking lots.  More recently however, the series seems to be morphing into some sort of Con Air slash Days of Thunder lovechild.

Fast & Furious was the ‘back to basics’ name for the fourth film (which you can’t help but feel they desperately tried to cram a ‘4’ into somewhere), but basic it was not; again drugs busts and Mexican criminals were used as a vehicle (sorry) to showcase a range of American muscle cars. The trailer for the fifth film appears to be in the same vein and in a move that seems wholly predictable, they have unnecessarily crammed a numeral into the title, does not bode well!

Having seen the trailer, I can confirm that the ratio of fast cars to Vin Diesel jumping through windows and worriedly shouting stuff before a fuel tanker explodes is not promising. Again the franchise seems to be edging towards a poor man’s Die Hard rather than a Rich man’s Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Take a look at the trailer for yourselves but if like me you’re a piston-head purist who is just after some lighted hearted four-wheel based fun you may end up overlooking ‘Fast Five’, which to me sounds suspiciously more like a novel about a bunch of over curious teenagers than a film about a gang of below-the-law opportunists that drive souped-up shopping trolleys.

Is the House MD Box Set worth the money?

A lot of people are looking for the best TV series to keep them entertained. The House MD box set will surely provide the entire household with absolute entertainment because of its different story. It is not like other TV series that have been going on TVs for some time now. The story is merely about a group of doctors that are performing traditional medicine to people who weren’t treated by other doctors. It is available in different seasons so you can choose the one you haven’t seen before. You can also watch the series over and over again if you would like to find out the highlights of every episode. This show is as much needed as shows like the X-files and everybody loves raymond.

It is great to buy the House MD box set because you can save money and time too because you don’t need to download from the web and get viruses too. There are various sets that are available at Amazon and they are also selling various sets with free shipping so there is no need to worry about paying for the shipment cost too. The series is about the life of a pain killer fanatic, he is also considered as a proud doctor. He is Gregory House with only half muscle on his right leg. He is a member of a team of medical doctors that tries to treat people in America who weren’t treated by other doctors.

Most of the episodes flow on how they cure people. They attempt to treat them with their condition and how the House department helps patients to find a solution to their concern. The House usually rejects ailments and patients with cases that they don’t find interesting; the story focuses on how traditional medical practices were made and how each of the characters reacts to the story and the treatments available. This set is also great for gift giving because it is truly entertaining.

Today’s Easiest Way To Learn How To Be A DJ

If you’ve ever thought of being a professional DJ/Mixmaster read on: These days everyone wants to be a DJ. Because of the low barriers of entry, there is no better time to learn how to mix than now. But how do you cut through the noise floor to become a Top DJ?

Hi, I’m Dan Morrell, DJ / remixer / producer / guitarist and now author. The decision to become a DJ has led me around the world to experience places that most people will never see or can afford to visit. I’ve toured in Japan with 14 cheerleaders for the troops, played Canada, Costa Rica, Europe, Mexico and more clubs around the US that I can even remember, all because I know how to make a record go wikki wikki. Ok, there’s a little more to it and we will cover all of it, but before we do let’s talk more about me… I’ll make it as quick as possible, I promise.

When I left for Normal, Illinois in the Summer of 1995, besides getting wasted there with great friends a few times in the past, I had no idea why I was going to ISU. Due to a piss poor GPA, my high school guidance counselor told me don’t waste my time even applying there. Luckily for me, they had a Hispanic box on the application. Unluckily for me, they sent my acceptance letter in Spanish, so I didn’t know I made it in until my Grandpa translated it for me.

I’ve never been one for following a traditional path or being influenced by the cautious advice of friends and family. Following my heart has led me to become who I am today, and now for the first time ever, I want to share how I did it with you.

The “Be A Top DJ in 10 Easy Steps” DJ course will help you achieve your dreams to be a Top DJ for a portion of what it would cost for group or personal DJ lessons. I wish that your journey takes you even farther than mine already has, and it will, if you follow the simple path I’ve laid out for you.
