Star Wars Clone Wars Game Delayed Until March

It’s bad news for Star Wars fan, as the independent reveals that their latest Lego game, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars has been further delayed. This was recently expected to be hitting the shelves in mid February, having been postponed from last November, but now will be delayed until around late March.

Shoppers will be able to get their hands of the new game on March 22nd in North America and March 25th in Europe. It will be available in Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC format as well as available on portable gaming formats for the PSP and Nintendo DS.

The game is currently being developed by Traveller’s Tales and will be published – eventually – by LucasArts. The Clone Wars is the sequel video game to LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.

Traveller’s Tales are the same team that put together the previous LEGO Star Wars game and the LEGO Indiana Jones series. The company was founded in 1989 and became fully established in 1990. It is based in Knutsford in Cheshire, United Kingdom. Some of their earliest games included Leander, Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Puggsy which were published through Psygnosis. They have also worked with other publishers such as Eidos Interactive, Disney Interactive Studios, Warner Bros and Sega.

“LucasArts continues to set the bar for next-generation family entertainment,” said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. “The LEGO Star Wars franchise is a massive hit with fans, bringing in sales of over 20 million units worldwide. We’re thrilled to extend this experience to LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, delivering the humour and fun players expect from this award winning franchise.”

The LEGO Star Wars III game will include all of the Star Wars characters from the first two seasons of the popular animated TV series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fan-favourite characters from the theatrical Star Wars Saga will also be included. Players of the game can play either as a Jedi or Seperatist and the developers have added a whole range of new character abilities including the squad command, lightsaber slicing, lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks, Squad command and Grapple Tie-Ups. New battle modes are also included within the game for improved head to head combat and the ability to build your own levels, a feature it is hoped that will make the LEGO video game one of the most popular Star Wars games ever to be released.
