Movie Recommendations from Netflix

Using Netflix’s rating system, you will have lists generated of suggested movie titles. This takes all of the guesswork out of filling up your queue.

When you go to the  video store to rent a movie wouldn’t it be nice to find recommendation list just for you and your family? With Netflix, you can get just that. If you give just a few minutes of your time, Netflix can provide you  with a list of movies that you will love to watch.

On the main Netflix page, there is a tab labeled “Movies You’ll Love”. On this page, you then choose the moves that you have watched. That will bring up a page of other recommended movies based on that choice. For example, I clicked on Pirate’s of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and it offered (in addition to the other Pirate’s movies):

  • National Treasure
  • Mr. and Mrs. Smith
  • Transformers

This system also works when you rate the movies that have been sent and watched from your queue. With a simple star rating system, you rate the movies you have watched and Netflix uses these ratings to suggest other movies for you to watch. Under the “Browse DVDs” tab on the main page, you can find listings based on your ratings. Go under “Friends” and then click on “Top 10”. Here you will find lists broken down by topic and the most popular are listed based on what is in your queue and on your ratings. For example, there is a category for Tear Jerkers and Romance. Clicking on that will list the top choices based on your queue choices and ratings.

With so many movies to choose from, these  options offered by Netflix are a quick and easy way to fill up your queue with movies that everyone will enjoy. You may even surprise yourself and find a movie you never thought of choosing; you may soon have a new favorite.
